Application of Two-level Fractional Factorial Design to Determine and Optimize the Effect of Demographic Characteristics on HIV Prevalence using the 2006 South African Annual Antenatal HIV and Syphilis Seroprevalence data

چکیده
A Two-Level Fractional Factorial design was employed to develop and optimize the combination of demographic characteristics that has the greatest effect on the spread of HIV in the South African population. HIV prevalence (dependent variable) was found to be highly sensitive to changes in the mother’s age (15-55years) and level of education (Grades 0-13) (independent variables), using the 2006 South African Annual Antenatal HIV and Syphilis Seroprevalence data. HIV prevalence was the optimization objective (R = 0.842, Durbin-Watson Index = 3.440%, Coefficient of Variation (CV) = 52.169%). The Lagrangian technique produced no significant difference (P>0.05) between the experimental and predicted HIV prevalence values. General Terms Two level fractional factorial design

Comparative Study of the Application of Box Behnken Design (BBD) and Binary Logistic Regression (BLR) to Study the Effect of Demographic Characteristics on HIV Risk in South Africa
In this study, a Box Behnken Design (BBD) and a Binary Logistic Regression (BLR) were applied to study the effects of demographic characteristics on the risk of HIV in South Africa. The demographic characteristics studied for each pregnant mother attending an antenatal clinic in South Africa, were mother’s age, partner’s age (father’s age), mother’s level of education and parity. Using the 2007...

BACKGROUND Sexually transmitted infections and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)/AIDS are a major public health concern owing to both their prevalence and propensity to affect offspring through vertical transmission. AIM The aim was to determine the seroprevalence of HIV, hepatitis B virus (HBV), hepatitis C virus (HCV), syphilis, and co-infections among antenatal women in Enugu, South-East ...
متن کاملSeroprevalence of Human Immunodificiency Virus (HIV) and Hepatitis C Infection In Hemophilic Patients In Iran
Background and Objective: Although transfusion therapy has lead to great improvement in longevity for hemophiliacs, but there have been tragic setbacks especially from transmission of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) .HIV was reported to increase the rate of HCV-related liver failure by 4.2 times. In this study, we aimed to determine the seroprevalence of HIV an...
